Campylobacter jejuni is the principal cause of gastroenteritis worldwide. Contaminated chickens is the most important source of human infection by Campylobactor. In its hosts, C. jejuni colonizes the gastrointestinal tract despite the constitutive and induced secretion of cationic antimicrobial peptides (CAMPs).
