Variations of solar spectral irradiance are the most important natural factor in the terrestrial climate and as such, the time dependent spectral solar irradiance is a crucial input to any climate modelling. A better understanding of the long-term solar variations over timescales of the 11-year solar activity cycle and longer is very important.
