Quantum sensors for Earth observation

We report on our development of various kinds of quantum sensors based on matterwave interferometry for precise inertial sensing of Earth`s rotation rate and gravity. By manipulating cold or ultra cold atoms with coherent light fields we realize several experimental platforms for the detailed investigation of different interferometer types and of their key technologies.
