The current demands of the aviation industry for increased gas-turbine efficiency pushes polycrystalline nickel-based superalloy turbine discs to their operational limits. This drive for improved efficiency necessitates higher turbine entry temperatures, requiring that alloys exhibit superior oxidation resistance.
