\"Dance Music\" in Byzantium and the Balkans

This paper will present a selection of representations belonging to Byzantine art, which show dance performances accompanied by music, by focusing on the time frame from the early to the late Byzantine period. Such pictures appear in various kinds of Byzantine art (e.g. wall paintings, sculptures, ivories, and illuminated manuscripts).
