Background: Isolated populations are assumed to be interesting for disease mapping. A population of about 15,000 individuals resident in the region of Lusatia, Saxony is considered as genetically isolated (Sorbs). A sample of about 1,000 individuals is currently analyzed in several genome-wide meta-analyses.[for full text, please go to the a.m. URL]
