In the German part of the North Sea the following deposits have been found by borings: marine sands of the Holocene, organic muds and fluvial sands of the Weichselian, rnarine sands of the Eemian, boulder clay of the Saalian glaciation, marine sands of the Holsteinian and clays of the Elsterian.
