The object of investigation is the Grönenbacher Feld, the locus typicus of Penck's Mindel glaciation. Its uniform nature assumed so far exists neither geomorphologically (outwash) gravel) nor geologically (younger Deckenschotter); on the contrary, it is composed of 10 independent gravel terraces.
