It was possible to locate the MATUYAMA/BRUNHES-boundary in the clay-pit of Kärlich (middle Rhine). This change of magnetic polarity can be found in sediments of the "Ville-Interglacial-Komplex" which are covered by deposits of at least six glaciations. In all the other examined german sites the lacks in the sequences are too great in order to pinpoint the position of the MATUYAMA/BRUNHES-boundary.
