Contrary to the prevailing opinion the author demonstrates that in the eastern part of the Hamburg Region the continental glacier of the Weichsel Glaciation advanced beyond the A-1-Line, being generally accepted as the marginal position of the ice sheet. At the culminating point of the glaciation the glacier at least expanded as far as the present Elbe Valley.
