In the study area in northern Tunisia (eastern Kroumir mountains) various deposits may be distinguished. The youngest is a fine material accumulation, with a maximum height of 5—6 m above low-water level and an erosion level of 2—2,5 m. This deposit corresponds to the fine sediments ("Auelehme") described by Fregien (1971). 2 14C-datings (charcoal) show that sedimentation began about 5000 B.P. 2 other 14C-datings show that a 6—12 m thick "dune sand terrace" was deposited...
