The paper presents the Zardeh-Kuh (4200 m) and Shir-Kuh (4070 m) mountains as two examples of the present-day glaciation of the central Iranian high mountains. Both mountain areas are subject to comparable climatic conditions: cold and wet winters as opposed to hot and dry summers.
