In the German Bight northwest of Helgoland a wide trough has been located below Holocene deposits, using sub-bottom-profiling techniques. It is the northern extension of the Elbe- and Weser-urstromtal. In the surveyed area, the valley floor dips towards NW from 38 m to 56 m below SKN.
