Primary centres of glaciation besides the Mount Belchen-Heidstein were the districts named Kohlgarten in the southwest and the Breitnauer Kopf in the northwest. During the glacial maximum of Würm stage the ice-masses united with the Wiesetal-glacier in the east. In the western part the glacier-tongues were short in consequence of the high relief gradient; moreover the deliveries are rare.
