The loess-loams in the southern parts of the upper Rhine-valley reach a thickness of bed more than 25 m (Riegel 35 m, Achenheim 37 m, Heitersheim 28 m). Parallels can be drawn between the succession of loess-loams and other soils in between the areas west of Strassburg. According to this the profile are divided by more than five different soils.
