Near Yiron clayey soil sediments occur on upper cretaceous and early tertiary carbonate rocks. Within these soil sediments there are locally intercalations of limestone and flint gravels containing old palaeolithic artifacts. The overlying layer is an erosively dissolved basalt cover displaying reverse magnetism. It is oriented to the Jordan Graben which already existed at that time.
