The Wannenköpfe scoria complex of the East-Eifel Volcanic Field in Germany has preserved a remarkable record of glacial and interglacial sediments in inter- and intracrater depressions. Due to intensive mining, the different eruption cycles of typical scoria cones are visible in the quarry walls. The pyroclastic formation starts with phreatomagmatic deposits of an initial maar.
