The section at Kärlich is one of the most important localities in Germany where Pleistocene fluvial sand and gravel as well as loess and loess derivatives are exposed. Based on recent geological investigations the stratigraphy of the cover sediments and the local stratigraphic correlations have to be reinterpreted. Our investigations indicate that: 1.
