Amarok, Tulugak and Ukalik are small, ultra-oligotrophic lakes on Baffin Island, Canadian Arctic, which were not covered by glaciers during the last ice age (refugia). Thus, the lakes and their watersheds have been active ecosystems for at least the last 40,000 years.
