The tropical Andes contain archives of late Quaternary climate change in glacial deposits. There is much debate about the Younger Dryas (YD) interval with respect to glacier advances. A glacier advance is documented by tills and moraines in the Papallacta Pass area of the eastern Andean Cordillera in Ecuador.
