Conventional and AMS 14C dates of palaeo-channel sediments and fossil soil horizons of the Weisse Elster floodplain differ largely by up to 20,000 14C years for various organic components and fractions of the same sample.These differences may be attributed to reworked Tertiary material (lignites).
