The paper introduces a design and an evaluation of a function of a storm water retention system (retention tank and in line storage) at the Unicov sewer network. The system design was based on the MOUSE mathematical model in 2001. The structures were constructed based on this design during the period of 2002 \342\200\223 2003. It was possible to make first evaluations of the system performance in 2004, having one year of the operation experience.
