A new broad-crested type of a wing-shaped overflow weir was developed and calibrated to meet the needs of monitoring combined sewer overflows in urban drainage systems. The main problem with existing sharp-crested weirs are hysteresis and inaccuracy at low overflow heads. The airfoil type weir shows a very broad measurement range from Qmin/Qmax of about 1/10,000.
