The hematopoietic cell-specific transcription factor Ikaros functions as a key regulator of lymphocyte differentiation and a tumor suppressor in T cells. The Ikaros gene encodes a zinc-finger transcription factor required during early lymphocyte development. We study Ikaros function in lymphocyte cell lineage using mice bearing a hypomorphic mutation in the ikzf1 (Ikaros) locus (IkL/L).

Ikaros is an important regulator of early dendritic cell development. To determine whether bone marrow plasmacytoid dendritic cells are affected by Ikaros decifiency, the transcription profilings of these cells has been compared to those of wild-type plasmacytoid cells.
