We study the adjustment of the tropical atmosphere to localized surface heating using a Lagrangian atmospheric model(LAM) that simulates a realistic Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) – the dominant, eastward-propagating mode of tropical intraseasonal variability modulating atmospheric convection.
