We have proposed a concept that integrates two processes namely fast pyrolysis of biomass and catalytic steam reforming. The conversion route begins with the fast pyrolysis of biomass residue to produce intermediate liquid (pyrolysis oil) at the place where biomass is available in enormous amounts and transport the liquid to a central reforming unit where syngas can be produced while taking advantage of the existing infrastructure.
