Intermodal Transportation Concept for Forest Chips

This study concentrates on a new container solution based on a channel composite structure, which means lighter, temperature-isolated, and more durable structure and accordingly a sustainable transport carrier option. Preliminary calculation-based estimates showed 10–12% lower transport costs with channel composite containers of forest chips in comparison to solid-frame trucks with a typical moisture content (>40%).
