Pyrolysis and Secondary Degradation Reactions of Softwood and Hardwood Lignins

Pyrolysis and secondary reactions of softwood and hardwood lignins were studied in an ampoule reactor (N2/ 600°C) with 1) guaiacol/syringol (as lignin aromatic nuclei), 2) intermediates from guaiacol/syringol pyrolysis and 3) milled wood lignins isolated from Japanese cedar (Cryptmeria japonica, a softwood) and Japanese beech (Fagus crenata, a hardwood).
