Biomass Steam Processing of Barley Straw towards Biocoal - A Carbonisation Alternative

The use of steam to carbonise barley straw has been tested in a laboratory screw reactor at atmospheric pressure and at temperatures between 250 and 350ºC for short reaction times between 38 and 150 minutes. This treatment has been named biomass steam processing (BSP).
