Biomass brings a number of new challenges to the energy industry including fuel supply, transport and storage, milling, handling and combustion. This paper focuses on the storage of biomass fuels in stockpiles and the impact this has on degradation and subsequently on the handling, milling and combustion characteristics of the fuels.
