Combustion Modeling of a Biomass Packed Bed in Moving Grate Furnaces

The article presents a 2-D steady state mathematical model developed to simulate woody biomass combustion in moving grate furnaces. The model simulates: moisture evaporation, devolatilization of volatile matter and char formation, heterogeneous reactions of char, mass and heat transfer between solid and gas phase and bed shrinkage.
