The salt-damaged wall paintings in Stroeby Church, Denmark

The medieval paintings on the chancel vault in Stroeby Church suffered severe degradation dueto precipitation of salts after a period of constant heating. During a recent investigation, anovel procedure was adapted to determine the distribution of salt across the surface. Salt wasextracted with wet filter paper.
