Terrestrial Hot Extremes Amplified by Extratropical Oceans under Global Warming

The past four decades have seen an increase of summer hot extremes over land in the northern extratropics. Such an increase is accompanied by the extratropical ocean warming and CO2 concentration rising, but their individual contributions remain unclear.
