Over the Sacks

University Of Oxford First World War Poetry Digital Archive
This 'story' offers an account of the opening days of 3rd Ypres, in Edmund Blunden hands. It was written shortly after the experience, and can be compared to 'The Crash of the Pillars' section of the memoir 'Undertones of War' (1928). This page describes gathering intelligence, a shift of the German bombardment, and advancing on the enemy position.
