This report investigates the economic efficiency of the current allocation of red snapper between the commercial and recreational fishing sectors in the Gulf of Mexico. Our results suggest that the 2012 allocations are not economically efficient because the net benefit for an additional unit of quota at the margin differs between these sectors.
