Double exceptional points in grating coupled Metal-Insulator-Metal heterostructure
Jianming Mai, Yu Chen, Guixin Li & Kok Cheah
In this work we theoretically study the exceptional points and reflection spectra characteristics of a grating coupled metal-insulator-metal heterostructure, which is a non-Hermitian system. Our results show that by selecting suitable geometrical parameters with grating periodicity @150 nm, that satisfy zero reflection condition, double exceptional points appear in a mode bifurcation regime. Furthermore, the thickness of partition metal layer between two cavities plays an important role in controlling the reflection properties of the heterostructure. There...

Objectives:To investigate the risk factors and biomechanical mechanisms of in-stent restenosis (ISR) in central venous occlusive disease (CVOD).Patients and methods:This retrospective study consecutively included 77 maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients with CVOD who received the first percutaneous transluminal angioplasty with stenting (PTS) due to symptomatic CVOD in a tertiary hospital. The mean age was 59.7 ± 14.0 years, and 51.9% of patients were male. The clinical characteristics, occurrence of ISR and patency rates were recorded. Finite...
Therapeutic Efficacy of Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells With Different Delivery Route and Dosages in Rat Models of Spinal Cord Injury

Recent studies have shown that the use of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) may be a promising strategy for treating spinal cord injury (SCI). This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of human umbilical cord-derived MSCs (hUC-MSCs) with different administration routes and dosages on SCI rats. Following T10-spinal cord contusion in Sprague-Dawley rats (N = 60), three different dosages of hUC-MSCs were intrathecally injected into rats (SCI-ITH) after 24 h. Intravenous injection of hUC-MSCs (SCI-i.v.) and...

A point-of-care ultrasound education curriculum for pediatric critical care medicine
Vidit Bhargava, Bereketeab Haileselassie, Samuel Rosenblatt, Mark Baker, Kevin Kuo & Erik Su
Abstract Background Diagnostic and procedural point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) change patient management with the potential to improve outcomes. Pediatric critical care medicine trainees have limited access to education and training opportunities in diagnostic POCUS in the pediatric ICU. A dearth of published pediatric ICU curricular resources restricts these educational opportunities. Methods A 7-week longitudinal curriculum including lectures, practical skills sessions, and knowledge assessment covering core modules including (1) machine operation, (2) vascular access, (3) non-vascular procedures,...

Magma contamination in Himalayan leucogranite by metapelite host rocks: insights from chemical and boron isotopic compositions of tourmaline
Lining Cheng & Chao Zhang
Contamination is a common scenario of intracrustal magmatic processes that may significantly change the compositions of involved anatectic melts. Here, we present major element and B isotope analyses on tourmalines from the Guowu leucogranite and their host rocks, which allow us to unravel the potential contaminations of the Himalayan leucogranites by metapelite host rocks. Three types of tourmaline have been identified in our samples. Tur-M in the host schist has the highest Mg/(Mg+Fe) ratio (0.52–0.62)...
