Development of a HPLC-UV Method for the Separation and Quantification of Hesperidin, Neohesperidin, Neohesperidin Dihydrochalcone and Hesperetin
Lin Chen, Siming Zhu, Chunqing Wang & Liang Chen
An analysis method was developed for the separation and quantification of hesperidin, neohesperidin, neohesperidin dihydrochalcone and hesperetin by using HPLC-UV. Single factor experiments and Box-Behnken Designs were used to optimize separation of four flavonoids, in which a gradient elution method was adopted with 99% acetonitrile and 0.1% formic acid as mobile phases at a flow rate of 0.9 mL/min. A C18 column was used with a column temperature of 35 °C. LODs and LOQs were...

Al₂O₃-YAG:Ce/YAG composite ceramic phosphor in a transmissive configuration for high-brightness laser-driven lighting
Pengfei Sang, Le Zhang, Jian Kang, yanbin li, shiwei chen, peng yang, Bingheng Sun, Yang Li & Hao Chen
High-power, high-brightness laser lighting promotes new requirements for light-conversion materials, such as high thermal conductivity, high saturation threshold and compact encapsulation. In this paper, we designed and fabricated a novel composite structure ceramic including a 1.0×1.0 mm2 Al₂O₃-YAG:Ce ceramic and a φ=16.0 mm transparent YAG ceramic for the transmissive configuration in laser lighting. When pumped by blue laser from 0~60 W mm2, all the samples exhibited no luminous saturation phenomenon, and the 10.0 wt.%Al₂O₃-YAG:Ce/YAG composite...

Abstract CRISPR tools can generate knockout and knock-in animal models easily, but the models can contain off-target genomic lesions or random insertions of donor DNAs. Simpler methods to identify off-target lesions and random insertions, using tail or earpiece DNA, are unavailable. We develop CRISPR-KRISPR (CRISPR-Knock-ins and Random Inserts Searching PRotocol), a method to identify both off-target lesions and random insertions. CRISPR-KRISPR uses as little as 3.4 μg of genomic DNA; thus, it can be easily...

Wei Zhang, Yan Yang, Liewen Lin, Jingquan He, Jingjing Dong, Bin Yan, Wanxia Cai, Yumei Chen, Lianghong Yin, Donge Tang, Fanna Liu & Yong Dai
Abstract Background According to the Global Cancer Statistics in 2020, the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer (CRC) rank third and second among all tumors. The disturbance of ubiquitination plays an important role in the initiation and development of CRC, but the ubiquitinome of CRC cells and the survival-relevant ubiquitination are poorly understood. Methods The ubiquitinome of CRC patients (n = 6) was characterized using our own data sets of proteomic and ubiquitin-proteomic examinations. Then,...

The causes of prehistoric human migrations in the drylands of the Asian interior have long been debated among multidisciplinary scholars. The Bronze Age Xiaohe settlements (ca. 4000–3300 cal yr BP) are situated in the extremely arid Tarim Basin of northwest China and exemplify a societal collapse which included a long-distance movement along river catchments. Here, we present the results of stable carbon isotope values (δ13C) of archaeobotanical remains, sedimentary faces analysis from the Tarim River...

Abstract Background As the king of all herbs, the medicinal value of ginseng is self-evident. The perennial nature of ginseng causes its quality to be influenced by various factors, one of which is the soil environment. During plant growth and development, MYB transcription factors play an important role in responding to abiotic stresses and regulating the synthesis of secondary metabolites. However, there are relatively few reports on the MYB transcription factor family in Panax ginseng....

Hua Liang, Wei Liao, Qingfeng Shao, Qiong Chen, Chun Tian, Yanyan Yao, Jinyan Li & Wei Wang
This report describes fossils recovered from Ganxian Cave in 2008 and 2018 by the Natural History Museum and Anthropology Museum of Guangxi. The cave sedimentary fill yielded rich mammalian fossils consisting mainly of isolated teeth of medium- to large-sized mammals (Primates, Proboscidea, Perissodactyla, Carnivora, Rodentia, Artiodactyla) of typical ‘Ailuropoda-Stegodon’ fauna, (e.g. Stegodon orientalis, Ailuropoda baconi, Pongo weidenreichi, Tapirus sinensis, Megatapirus augustus, Crocuta ultima), and more numerous extant species belonging to 28 taxa in total. The...

Abstract Background Besides featured glucose consumption, recent studies reveal that cancer cells might prefer “addicting” specific energy substrates from the tumor microenvironment (TME); however, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Methods Fibroblast-specific long noncoding RNAs were screened using RNA-seq data of our NJLCC cohort, TCGA, and CCLE datasets. The expression and package of LINC01614 into exosomes were identified using flow cytometric sorting, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The...

A “Y” Incision/Rectangular Patch to Enlarge the Aortic Annulus by 4 Valve Sizes in TAV and BAV Patients
Aroma Naeem & Bo Yang
We previously described using a “Y” incision and rectangular patch to enlarge the aortic annulus by 2-3 valve sizes for aortic valve replacement (AVR) with bioprosthesis (1) or mechanical valve (2) in patients with trileaflet aortic valve (TAV). As we are becoming more experienced, we are able to enlarge the aortic annulus by 4 valve sizes routinely in either TAV or bicuspid aortic valve (BAV). In this video we used a case of TAV to...
