S-type granites constitute an important component of the Paleoproterozoic Khondalite Belt in the North China Craton. Here we present results from petrography, geochemistry and isotope geochronology on the porphyritic garnet-bearing syenogranite and garnet-bearing monzogranite samples in the Jining-Liangcheng area. The geochemical characteristics of these samples indicate formation through partial anatexis of the khondalites, with heat and material input from mantle-derived magma. Geochemical similarities between the porphyritic garnet-bearing syenogranite, garnet-bearing monzogranite, and metapelitic gneiss suggest their...
Bortezomib induces cellular senescence in A549 lung cancer cells by stimulating telomere shortening
Lei Wang, Hang Yin, Shiren Huang, Sini Huang, Congcong Huang, Zhao Zhang & Hui Liu
Bortezomib (BTZ) is a first-generation proteasome inhibitor with anti-tumor properties for multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma. Increasing evidence has shown that BTZ exhibits toxic effects on diverse tumor cells, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. However, the mechanism has not been fully evaluated. Here, we examined the regulatory effect of BTZ on cellular senescence, a potent tumor suppressive mechanism, in NSCLC cell lines. SA-β-gal staining assay showed that BTZ caused a significant increase...

Abstract Background Pyroptosis is a form of programmed cell death involved in the pathophysiological progression of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH). Emerging evidence suggests that N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-modified transcripts of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are important regulators that participate in many diseases. However, whether m6A modified transcripts of lncRNAs can regulate pyroptosis in HPH progression remains unexplored. Methods The expression levels of FENDRR in hypoxic pulmonary artery endothelial cells (HPAECs) were detected by using quantitative real-time polymerase...
Two sesquiterpene lactones, arnicolide B and arnicolide C, isolated from Centipeda minima, exert anti-inflammatory effects in LPS stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages via inactivation of the MAPK pathway

Arnicolide B and arnicolide C are two sesquiterpene lactones isolated and identified from Centipeda minima, but the anti-inflammatory effects and mechanisms of these two compounds have not been reported. In this study, LPS was used to establish RAW 264.7 macrophages inflammatory response model. Griess, ELISA, Western blot were used to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects in vitro and the molecular mechanisms of these two active compounds. The results showed that arnicolide B and arnicolide C could...

Abstract Background Autophagy regulators play important roles in the occurrence and development of a variety of tumors and are involved in immune regulation and drug resistance. However, the modulatory roles and prognostic value of autophagy regulators in pancreatic cancer have not been identified. Methods Transcriptomic data and survival information from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases were used to construct a risk score model. Important clinical features were analyzed to...

Fabrication of efficient, magnetic graphene oxide nanocomposite for the enhanced photodegradation of organic dyes under visible light
Qin Zhang, Keran Li, Jikang Yan, Taigang Zhou & Runxi Gui
This study reports magnetic graphene oxide composite microspheres (MGO) were firstly synthesized via one step miniemulsion polymerization. α-FeOOH rods were then loaded onto MGO via a facile hydrothermal method to prepare α-FeOOH@MGO, which was served as the photocatalyst for the Fenton reaction. Subsequently, the properties of the resulting α-FeOOH@MGO were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, VSM and UV-vis DRS analysis methods. The influence of various parameters was investigated, such as dye type, dye concentration, H2O2...

Negative temperature-dependence of stress-induced R→B19′ transformation in nanocrystalline NiTi alloy
Taotao Wang, Xiangxiang Rao, Qiang Zhang, Daqiang Jiang, Yang Ren, Lishan Cui & Kaiyuan Yu
The temperature dependence of the critical stress of R→B19’ transformation in NiTi shape memory alloys remains unclear due to the difficulties in precisely identifying the phase constitution and acquiring sole R phase. Here we investigate the thermally- and stress-induced martensitic transformation in a near-equiatomic nanocrystalline NiTi alloy. In situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction is used to identify the phase evolution such that the temperature window for sole R phase is firmly determined. We find that the...

Pump-guided nonlinear film for phase conjugation
Pengyu Fu & Yue Li
It is known that phase conjugation technique is achieved by the nonlinearity of materials, and widely adopted in various applications, such as high-resolution imaging, signal amplification, and target detecting. Here, we have proposed a field-enhancement method for the degenerate four wave mixing (FWM) for phase conjugation purpose. In this method, a thin metasurface with nonlinear property is utilized to confine and guide the pumps, achieving the enhanced FWM within a flexible structure. Compared to existing...
Simultaneously enhanced strength and ductility in graphene nanosheet/Al-Cu-Mg nano-laminated composites by incorporating coarse domains
Haoyu Teng, Zhanqiu Tan, Xihang Zhao, Genlian Fan, Zhenming Yue, Zhiqiang Li & Ding-Bang Xiong
A heterogeneous structure by designing soft/hard domains with dramatically different strengths is effective to maintain the high ductility of metals but it sacrifices the yield strength. Here we first demonstrate a simultaneous enhancement of yield strength and tensile elongation by ∼20% in graphene nanosheet (GNS)/Al-Cu-Mg nano-laminated composites, with a tensile strength of ∼687 MPa and elongation over 10%, by designing heterogeneous domains with a little difference. The underlying mechanism was investigated by microstructural characterizations and...
