Chironomid assemblages and inferred summer temperature, late Rissian, Eemian and earliest Würmian, S Germany
Alex Bolland, Oliver Kern, Andreas Koutsodendris, Jörg Pross & Oliver Heiri
The data herein presents a new chironomid record and associated chironomid-based temperature reconstruction covering the mid Eemian to the end of the first Würmian stadial (ca. 125–105 ka), augmented by results for the late Rissian glaciation and the early Brörup interstadial from the Füramoos palaeolake, southern Germany. There is an unconformity in the sediment core analysed between the late Rissian sediments and the mid Eemian sediments. These data also include non-chironomid invertebrate remains, including Ceratopogonidae,...

Psychotic disorders are frequently associated with decline in functioning and cognitive difficulties are observed in subjects at clinical high risk (CHR) for psychosis. In this work, we applied automatic approaches to neurocognitive and functioning measures, with the aim of investigating the link between global, social and occupational functioning, and cognition. 102 CHR subjects and 110 patients with recent onset depression (ROD) were recruited. Global assessment of functioning (GAF) related to symptoms (GAF-S) and disability (GAF-D)....

Abstract Background We aimed to assess the prevalence of Salmonella Typhi through DNA and IgM-antibody detection methods as a prelude to extended surveillance activities at sites in Ghana, Madagascar, and Ethiopia. Methods We performed species-specific real-time polymerase reaction (RT-PCR) to identify bacterial nucleic acid, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for detecting HlyE/STY1498-, CdtB/STY1886-, pilL/STY4539- and Vi-antigens in blood and biopsy specimens of febrile and non-febrile subjects. We generated antigen-specific ELISA proxy cut-offs by change-point analyses,...

The angiosperm family Primulaceae is morphologically diverse and distributed nearly worldwide. However, phylogenetic uncertainty has limited the ability to identify major morphological and biogeographic transitions. We used target capture sequencing with the Angiosperms353 kit for over 300 species across Ericales, tree-based sequence curation, and multiple phylogenetic approaches to investigate the phylogenetics of the major clades of Primulaceae and their relationship to other Ericales. The study included 150 samples of Primulaceae comprising nearly all recognized genera...

Background:Computed tomography angiography (CTA) of the supraaortic arteries is commonly used for acute stroke workup and may reveal apical pulmonary lesions (APL).Aim:To determine the prevalence, follow-up algorithms, and in-hospital outcomes of stroke patients with APL on CTA.Methods:We retrospectively included consecutive adult patients with ischemic stroke, transient ischemic attack, or intracerebral hemorrhage and available CTA at a tertiary hospital between January 2014 and May 2021. We reviewed all CTA reports for the presence of APL. APL...
