Pilots’ mental workload variation when taking a risk in a flight scenario: a study based on flight simulator experiments
Lei Wang, Shan Gao, Wei Tan & Jingyi Zhang
Pilots’ operation behavior in flight is associated with their mental state variables such as workload, situation awareness, stress, etc. The objective of this study was to investigate the dynamic process of mental workload for pilots who perform a risky flight task in simulated scenarios. Two empirical experiments were conducted to address this issue. In experiment one, 19 trainee pilots divided into high-risk and low-risk groups performed a target-search task in a low-altitude visual flight. The...
LINC00857 regulated by ZNF460 enhances the expression of CLDN12 by sponging miR-150-5p and recruiting SRSF1 for alternative splicing to promote epithelial-mesenchymal transformation of pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells
Yong Zhang, Yuan Fang, Lijie Ma, Jing Xu, Chentao Lv, Li Deng & Guanghui Zhu
Recent research unveiled that LINC00857 plays a regulatory role in multiple human cancers, such as lung adenocarcinoma and gastric cancer. Nevertheless, the function of LINC00857 in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) remains unclear. This study concentrates on LINC00857 to discuss the relevant molecular mechanism of this gene in PAAD. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and western blot were implemented for measuring the expressions of RNAs and proteins. Wound healing and Transwell assays were used to...
Proteotoxic stress disrupts epithelial integrity by inducing MTOR sequestration and autophagy overactivation
Xiaoxiang Cheng, Pei Zhang, Hongyu Zhao, Hui Zheng, Kai Zheng, Hong Zhang & Hongjie Zhang
Macroautophagy/autophagy, an evolutionarily conserved degradation system, serves to clear intracellular components through the lysosomal pathway. Mounting evidence has revealed cytoprotective roles of autophagy; however, the intracellular causes of overactivated autophagy, which has cytotoxic effects, remain elusive. Here we show that sustained proteotoxic stress induced by loss of the RING and Kelch repeat-containing protein C53A5.6/RIKE-1 induces sequestration of LET-363/MTOR complex and overactivation of autophagy, and consequently impairs epithelial integrity in C. elegans. In C53A5.6/RIKE-1-deficient animals, blocking...

Abstract Despite many nano-based strategies devoted to delivering cisplatin for tumor therapy, its clinical benefits are compromised by poor tissue penetration and limited DNA adducts formation of the drug. Herein, a cisplatin loading nanomotor based janus structured Ag-polymer is developed for cisplatin delivery of deeper tissue and increased DNA adducts formation. The nanomotor displayed a self‐propelled tumor penetration fueled by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in tumor tissues, which is catalytically decomposed into a large amount of...

Zijian Lu, Liangxu Wang, Nan Meng, Xuhuan Dai, Jingyi Zhu, Yanzheng Yang, Ruonan Li, Jinfeng Ma & Hua Zheng
The protection of migratory birds and their habitats is important to the ecological stability of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP). Currently protected areas (PAs) were designed in accordance with species distribution patterns under current climatic conditions, thus ignoring climate change will lead to a decrease in the protection efficiency of PAs. In this study, using the flagship species Grus nigricollis, as an example, we used the maximum entropy (MaxEnt) model to simulate the distributions and conservation...
Corporate social responsibility and trade credit during periods of monetary contraction
Daxin Dong & Peng Liu
This paper studies whether firms’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) affects their access to trade credit in response to monetary contraction shocks. Based on US firm-level data from 1995Q1 to 2014Q1, we find that after monetary contraction shocks, firms with higher levels of CSR receive more trade credit than firms with lower levels of CSR. Moreover, the beneficial impact of CSR is stronger for firms in regions with higher social trust and in more competitive industries....
Effect and mechanisms of kaempferol against endometriosis based on network pharmacology and in vitro experiments
Junde Zhao, Juntao Wang, Jinxing Liu, Shuling Li, Pengfei Liu & Xiaodan Zhang
Abstract Endometriosis is a common gynecological disease, and its underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Patients are at a higher risk of recurrence after surgery or drug withdrawal. In this study, to identify a potentially effective and safe therapy for endometriosis, we screened potential target genes of kaempferol on endometriosis using network pharmacology and further validation. Network pharmacology showed kaempferol may suppress migratory and invasive properties by modulating the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway and its downstream target...

Jinsong Wang, Guobao Chen, Zhong M Chen, Fu P Wang & Bin Xia
The role of periosteum rich in a variety of bone cells and growth factors in the treatment of bone defects has gradually been discovered. However, due to the limited number of healthy transplantable periosteum, there are still major challenges in the clinical treatment of critical-size bone defects. Various techniques for preparing biomimetic periosteal scaffolds that are similar in composition and structure to natural periosteal scaffold have gradually emerged. This article reviews the current preparation methods...

Rui Li, Lijun Li, Yan Zhang, Xin Lin, Heyuanxi Guo, Chubing Lin & Jun Feng
Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a cancer-related tumor marker, which is commonly used for preventive screening, auxiliary diagnosis, and recurrence monitoring. Therefore, it is of great significance to develop a new CEA detection method. In this paper, we developed an SERS aptasensor for CEA based on silver nanorod array chip, thiol aptamer, and 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid (4-MPBA). The silver nanorod array chip modified by CEA thiol aptamer (aptamer-SH) was used as SERS capture substrates. Ag@4-MPBA was used...
Comparison of different concentrations of a povidone iodine-diluted sitz bath in the prevention of perianal infection in patients undergoing chemotherapy for hematological malignancy: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

Abstract Background Infection is one of the most common causes of death in patients with hematological malignancies during chemotherapy. Due to its special location, local warmth and humidity, repeated pollution with stool and urine, and characteristically wrinkled anatomical structure within which bacteria can hide, the perianal becomes a site with a high incidence of infection. Such infection also has a high recurrence rate and high mortality, increasing the economic burden of patients, delaying the time...

Abstract Introduction EGFR mutations in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are associated with a poor response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), and only 20% of NSCLC patients harboring EGFR mutations benefit from immunotherapy. Novel biomarkers or therapeutics are needed to predict NSCLC prognosis and enhance the efficacy of ICIs in NSCLC patients harboring EGFR mutations, especially lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients, who account for approximately 40–50% of all NSCLC cases. Methods An ARID1A-knockdown (ARID1A-KD) EGFR-mutant LUAD...
