Bin Wang, Haixia Shi, Bo Yang, Zhigang Miao, Miao Sun, Hao Yang & Xingshun Xu
Abstract Background Previous studies have shown that depression is often accompanied by an increase in mtDNA copy number and a decrease in ATP levels; however, the exact regulatory mechanisms remain unclear. Methods In the present study, Western blot, cell knockdown, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation and ChIP-qPCR assays were used to detect changes in the Ahi1/GR-TFAM-mtDNA pathway in the brains of neuronal Abelson helper integration site-1 (Ahi1) KO mice and dexamethasone (Dex)-induced mice to elucidate the pathogenesis of...

Improvement of soft-magnetic properties for Fe-based amorphous alloys with high saturation polarization by stress annealing
Mingjuan Cai, Jingjing Wang, Qianqian Wang, Zhijun Guo, Qiang Luo, Jing Zhou, Tao Liang, Xuesong Li, Qiaoshi Zeng & Baolong Shen
Stress annealing is utilized for enhancing the magnetic softness of Fe83–xCoxB10Si3C3P1 (x = 0–16) amorphous alloys with saturation polarization up to 1.75 T. All of the stress-annealed alloys exhibit improved soft-magnetic properties, including low coercivity of 1.8–2.2 A/m, low core loss of 0.09–0.11 W/kg at 1.0 T and 50 Hz, and high permeability of 27,000–33,200 at 5 A/m and 1 kHz. Stress annealing induces longitudinal magnetic anisotropy and facilitates the annihilation of free volume, leading...

Identifying altered developmental pathways in human globoid cell leukodystrophy iPSCs-derived NSCs using transcriptome profiling
Yafeng Lv, Yu Qin, Jing Wang, Guoshuai Tian, Wei Wang, Chunyu Cao & Ye Zhang
Abstract Background Globoid cell leukodystrophy (GLD) is a devastating neurodegenerative disease characterized by widespread demyelination caused by galactocerebrosidase defects. Changes in GLD pathogenesis occurring at the molecular level have been poorly studied in human-derived neural cells. Patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are a novel disease model for studying disease mechanisms and allow the generation of patient-derived neuronal cells in a dish. Results In this study, we identified gene-expression changes in iPSCs and iPSC-derived neural...

Surface plasmon excitations in metallic hole array have been extensively studied in the context of light-matter interaction since the generated Bloch surface plasmon polariton (Bloch-SPP) exhibits unique properties of nanoscale light confinement, near-field enhancements, and long-range metal surface propagation. In this work, we experimentally demonstrate a plasmonic device that exhibits highly directional emission in visible light, using Ag film with thickness of 100 nm is deposited on the subwavelength porous alumina array as a plasmonic...

Abstract Background Non-small cell cancer (NSCLC) patients with concomitant epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and TP53 mutations have a poor prognosis with the treatment of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), and may benefit from a combination regimen preferentially. The present study aims to compare the benefits of EGFR-TKIs and its combination with antiangiogenic drugs or chemotherapy in patients with NSCLC harboring EGFR and TP53 co-mutation in a real-life setting. Methods This retrospective analysis included 124 patients...
