New polymerized sesquiterpene lactones from Ainsliaea yunnanensis and their activity evaluation

Na Zhou, Jin-Jie Li, Yong Wu, Ze-Yu Wang, Xin Wang, Zhi-Peng Yin, Xin-Peng Wang, Yi-Ran Liu & Xiao-Ya Shang
Two new dimeric and trimeric sesquiterpene lactones (1–2), and nine known sesquiterpene lactones (3–11) were isolated from the EtOAc phase of the ethanolic extract of Ainsliaea yunnanensis. Their structures were identified by NMR, IR and HR-ESIMS spectroscopic methods, and compound 1 was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction experiment. All the compounds were tested for their cytotoxic, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activities. Compounds 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 showed very significant selective cytotoxic...

Psoriasis complicated with metabolic disorder is associated with traditional Chinese medicine syndrome types: a hospital-based retrospective case-control study

Xiaoying Sun, Huaibo Zhao, Ruiping Wang, Hongjin Li, Yong Wu, Kan Ze, Yonghua Su, Bin Li & Xin Li
To explore the distribution law of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome types in patients with psoriasis vulgaris complicated by metabolic disorders based on the same pathogenic factors as blood-heat and blood-stasis in the pathogenesis of psoriasis and metabolic disorders and to further analyze the correlation between adiponectin and the distribution law. From January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2019, patients diagnosed with psoriasis in the inpatient or outpatient department of Dermatology Ward of Shanghai Yueyang...

The causes of prehistoric human migrations in the drylands of the Asian interior have long been debated among multidisciplinary scholars. The Bronze Age Xiaohe settlements (ca. 4000–3300 cal yr BP) are situated in the extremely arid Tarim Basin of northwest China and exemplify a societal collapse which included a long-distance movement along river catchments. Here, we present the results of stable carbon isotope values (δ13C) of archaeobotanical remains, sedimentary faces analysis from the Tarim River...

Data from: A new moth-preying alpine pitviper species from Qinghai-Tibetan plateau (Viperidae, Crotalinae)

Jingsong Shi, Gang Wang, Xi'er Chen, Li Ding, Song Huang, Mian Hou, Jun Liu, Pipeng Li, Xi’er Chen & Yihao Fang
The Sanjiangyuan region of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau is recognized as a biodiversity hotspot of alpine mammals but a barren area in terms of amphibians and reptiles. Here, we describe a new pit viper species, Gloydius rubromaculatus sp. n. Shi, Li and Liu, 2017 that was discovered in this region, with a brief taxonomic revision of the genus Gloydius. The new species can be distinguished from the other congeneric species by the following characteristics: cardinal crossbands on...

A tandem CCCH type zinc finger protein gene CpC3H3 from Chimonanthus praecox promotes flowering and enhances drought tolerance in Arabidopsis

Huamin Liu, Shiqi Xiao, Shunzhao Sui, Renwei Huang, Xia Wang, Huafeng Wu & Xia Liu
Abstract Background CCCH-type zinc finger proteins play important roles in plant development and biotic/abiotic stress responses. Wintersweet (Chimonanthus praecox) is a popular ornamental plant with strong resistance to various stresses, which is a good material for exploring gene resource for stress response. In this study, we isolated a CCCH type zinc finger protein gene CpC3H3 (MZ964860) from flower of wintersweet and performed functional analysis with a purpose of identifying gene resource for floral transition and...

Colorimetric and Fluorescent Determination of Alkaline Phosphatase and Ascorbic Acid based upon the Inner Filter Effect using up-Conversion Nanoparticles

Shaoyang Yu, Yating Yang, Gaoya Hu, Wei Wang, Wei Zhuang, Yong Wu, Rongfu Huang, Yongquan Zhang, Sisi Gong & Chunmei Fan
A novel fluorescence and colorimetric dual probe based upon the inner filter effect (IFE) is reported to selectively and sensitively determine alkaline phosphatase (ALP). First, up-conversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) were prepared via a facile hydrothermal method and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and zeta potential. Under near infrared (NIR) excitation at 980 nm, the prepared nanoparticles emit green light at 541 nm. The absorption band of p-phenylenediamine...

Jinghao Zhang, Feng Yang, Zhaoyang Sun, Yi Fang, Haowei Zhu, Dijun Zhang, Xianping Zeng, Wenjian Liu, Tao Liu, Yixin Liu, Wenjing Chi, Su Wang, Li Ding, Yong Wu, Yanmei Zhang & Hu Zhao
Abstract Background Bloodstream infection (BSI) is a life-threatening condition with high morbidity and mortality rates worldwide. Early diagnosis of BSI is critical to avoid the unnecessary application of antimicrobial agents and for proper treatment. However, the current standard methods based on blood culture are time-consuming, thus failing to provide a timely etiological diagnosis of BSI, and common PCR-based detection might be inhibited by matrix components. Methods The current study explored an integrated pre-analytical treatment protocol...
