The primary goal of the conceptual model is to have a structured description of the service's architecture to improve and increase the usage of re3data (and its metadata) by third party services. Embedding re3data within the various stakeholder communities will advance re3data as a global information infrastructure for trustworthy research data repositories. A research data repository (RDR) is a subtype of a sustainable information infrastructure providing long-term storage of and access to research data. Research...

COVID-19 first lockdown as a window into language acquisition: associations between caregiver-child activities and vocabulary gains

Natalia Kartushina, Nivedita Mani, Aslı Aktan-Erciyes, Khadeejah Alaslani, Naomi Aldrich, Alaa Almohammadi, Haifa Alroqi, Lucy Anderson, Elena Andonova, Suzanne Aussems, Mireille Babineau, Mihaela Barokova, Christina Bergmann, Cara Cashon, Stephanie Custode, Alex de Carvalho, Nevena Dimitrova, Agnieszka Dynak, Rola Farah, Christopher Fennell, Anne-Caroline Fiévet, Michael Frank, Margarita Gavrilova, Hila Gendler-Shalev & Shannon Gibson
The COVID-19 pandemic, and the resulting closure of daycare centers worldwide, led to unprecedented changes in children’s learning environments. This period of increased time at home with caregivers, with limited access to external sources (e.g., daycares) provides a unique opportunity to examine the associations between the caregiver-child activities and children’s language development. The vocabularies of 1742 children aged 8-36 months across 13 countries and 12 languages were evaluated at the beginning and end of the...

Data from: Links across ecological scales: Plant biomass responses to elevated CO2

Julia Maschler, Lalasia Bialic-Murphy, Joe Wan, Louise C. Andresen, Constantin M. Zohner, Peter B. Reich, Andreas Lüscher, Manuel K. Schneider, Christoph Müller, Gerald Moser, Jeffrey S. Dukes, Inger Kappel Schmidt, Mark C. Bilton, Kai Zhu & Thomas W. Crowther
Despite the wide agreement that increased plant biomass accumulation under elevated CO2 concentrations (e[CO2]) might play a key role in climate change, the effect of e[CO2] on plant biomass levels remains a major uncertainty in climate models. In the review associated with this dataset, we discuss the evidence for increased biomass levels under e[CO2] across multiple levels of ecological organization, scaling from physiological responses to changes in population-, community-, ecosystem-, and global-scale dynamics. We find...

Data and analysis code for the 26 May 2010 supercell intercepted by VORTEX2 near Prospect Valley, Colorado

S. Murdzek , P. Markowski, Y.P. Richardson & R. Tanamachi
These data and computer codes contained in this zip file were used in an analysis of a supercell on 26 May 2010 near Prospect Valley, Colorado, that was intercepted by the Second Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment (VORTEX2). The results from this analysis are discussed in the following journal article: Murdzek, S. S., P. M. Markowski, Y. P. Richardson, R.L. Tanamachi, 2020: Processes preventing the development of a significant tornado in...

How Long is Forever in the Laboratory? Three Implementations of an Infinite-Horizon Monetary Economy

Janet Hua Jiang, Daniela Puzzello & Cathy Zhang
Standard monetary models adopt an infinite horizon with discounting. Testing these models in the lab requires implementing this horizon within a limited time frame. We compare three approaches to such an implementation and discuss their relative advantages.

We conducted a global meta-analysis to investigate invasions, abiotic global environmental changes, and their combined effects on native species, communities, and ecosystems. We searched the Web of Science Core Collection for articles and reviews that were available in English through September 30, 2020. Search terms were chosen to identify papers reporting impacts of invasions with one of six abiotic global environmental changes (GECs: warming, nitrogen deposition, O2 depletion, drought, CO2 addition, and altered pH). We assessed...
