Determination of Acrylic Resin Monomers in Food Packaging Paper by Gas Chromatography – Tandem Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) with Formic Acid as a Protective Agent

Xuan Wang, Xiang Zhu, Wenjun Xu, Jianmin Shen, Jijun Xu, Lina Chen, Lei Wang & Jianing Xiang
Gas chromatography – tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) using formic acid as a protective agent is reported for the determination of acrylic resin monomers in food contact packaging paper. The analytes were extracted by ethanol mixed with formic acid with 2-phenylethyl propionate as the internal standard. The extract was separated by a 6% cyanopropylbenzene-94% dimethylsiloxane ultra-inert chromatographic column and analyzed by GC-MS/MS in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode. 13 acrylic resin monomers including acrylic acid, styrene,...

An efficient and practical synthesis of functionalized pyridines via recyclable copper-catalyzed three-component tandem cyclization

Chengkai Luo, Mingzhong Cai, Ruonan Zhao & Bin Huang
An efficient heterogeneous copper(I)-catalyzed three-component tandem cyclization of ketoxime acetates, aldehydes, and activated methylene compounds has been developed that proceeds smoothly in DMSO at 120 °C by using an 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyl-modified MCM-41-bound copper(I) bromide [MCM-41-2N-CuBr] as the catalyst, delivering a variety of polysubstituted pyridines in good to high yields. The heterogenized copper(I) catalyst can be readily obtained via a simple preparative procedure from commercially available and inexpensive reagents, and reused more than seven times without any...

Diatrype genheensis sp. nov. -- a new wood-inhabiting species of Diatrypaceae (Xylariales, Ascomycota) from China

Zhan-En Yang, An-Hong Zhu, Bo Zhang, Zhi Qu & Hai-Xia Ma
A new species of Diatrype (Diatrypaceae, Xylariales), D. genheensis, is proposed based on a combination of morphological features and molecular evidence. Diatrype genheensis, from a fallen angiosperm branch in Inner Mongolia, is characterized by having 3–14 perithecia embedded within a stroma, polysporous asci and ascospores that are allantoid, slightly curved, aseptate and subhyaline. The phylogeny of Diatrypaceae was inferred from a combined dataset of ITS and β-tubulin sequences. The phylogenetic tree indicated that D. genheensis...

High-fidelity Mesoscopic Fluorescence Molecular Tomography based on SSB-Net

Kaixuan Liu, Yuxuan Jiang, Wensong Li, Haitao Chen, Qingming Luo & Yong Deng
The imaging fidelity of mesoscopic fluorescence molecular tomography (MFMT) in reflective geometry suffers from spatial non-uniformity of measurement sensitivity and ill-posed reconstruction. In this study, we present a spatially adaptive split Bregman network (SSB-Net) to simultaneously overcome the spatial nonuniformity of measurement sensitivity and promote reconstruction sparsity. SSB-Net is derived by unfolding the split Bregman algorithm. In each layer of SSB-Net, residual block and 3D convolution neural networks (3D-CNN) can adaptively learn the spatially non-uniform...

Multifunctional transmission polarization conversion metasurface based on dislocation induced anisotropy at terahertz frequency

Wenpeng Guo, Peng Tan, Jing Wang, Li Li, Shuai Li, Guanchao Wang, Zhongxiang Zhou & Hao Tian
Manipulating the polarization state of terahertz waves is critical for terahertz communication systems. In this study, a terahertz band polarization conversion metasurface based on dislocation-induced anisotropy is proposed. Numerical simulation results revealed that the polarization conversion of orthogonal linearly polarized light, left and right circularly polarized light, linearly polarized light to circularly polarized light, and circularly polarized light to linearly polarized light can be realized. Furthermore, the simulation revealed that multifunctional polarization conversion can be...

Ya-Fang Ding, Li-Yun Liu, Jie Tang, Dong-Xue Fan, Yuan-Yuan Ji, Hou-Wen Lin, Jie Wang & Li-Li Hong
Two new 9,11-secosterols, hipposponols A (1) and B (2), together with five known analogues, aplidiasterol B (3), (3β,5α,6β)-3,5,6-triol-cholest-7-ene (4), (3β,5α,6β,22E)-3,5,6-triol-ergosta-7,22-diene (5), and one pair of inseparable C-24 epimers of (3β,5α,6β,22E)-3,5,6-triol-stigmasta-7,22-diene (6/7), were isolated from the marine sponge Hippospongia lachne de Laubenfels. The structures of isolated compounds were extensively elucidated based on HRESIMS and NMR data. Compounds 2 − 5 showed cytotoxicity against PC9 cells with IC50 values ranging from 34.1 ± 0.9 to 38.9 ±...

Fault diagnosis of reciprocating compressor based on the prediction of comprehensive index extracted from the expansion process in indicator diagram

Weifeng Wu, Chengyi Li, Jing Zhang, Yin Zhang, Xiaoran Li, Yifan Yang, Zhongqing Zhu & Bingsheng Wang
The fault of vulnerable parts in the cylinder accounts for a large proportion of the fault of the reciprocating compressor. In order to find the fault of the compressor in time, parameter monitoring is usually applied to give forewarning or warning of the compressor fault. Because the setting of forewarning value relies on experiences, over protection and delayed warning events often occur. Recently, the research of fault diagnosis methods combined with artificial intelligence technology is...

A Testlet Diagnostic Classification Model with Attribute Hierarchies

Wenchao Ma, Chun Wang & Jiaying Xiao
In this article, a testlet hierarchical diagnostic classification model (TH-DCM) was introduced to take both attribute hierarchies and item bundles into account. The expectation-maximization algorithm with an analytic dimension reduction technique was used for parameter estimation. A simulation study was conducted to assess the parameter recovery of the proposed model under varied conditions, and to compare TH-DCM with testlet higher-order CDM (THO-DCM; Hansen, M. (2013). Hierarchical item response models for cognitive diagnosis (Unpublished doctoral dissertation)....

NIR FP brightness in live brain slice
Recent progress in fluorescent protein development has generated a large diversity of near-infrared fluorescent proteins, which are rapidly becoming popular probes for a variety of imaging applications. To assist end-users with a selection of the right near-infrared fluorescent protein for a given application, we conducted a quantitative assessment of intracellular brightness, photostability, oligomeric state, and cytotoxicity of 22 near-infrared fluorescent proteins in cultured HEK cells and primary...
