UNITE provides a unified way for delimiting, identifying, communicating, and working with DNA-based Species Hypotheses (SH). All fungal ITS sequences in the international nucleotide sequence databases are clustered to approximately the species level by applying a set of dynamic distance values (<0.5 - 3.0%). All species hypotheses are given a unique, stable name in the form of a DOI, and their taxonomic and ecological annotations are verified through distributed, web-based third-party annotation efforts. SHs are...

454-sequences and metadata to the study Diverse and host-specific fungal communities associated with the roots of isoetid plants from six Norwegian lakes (submitted to Fungal Ecology in July 2019)

Radka Sudová
We examined fungi associated with roots of isoetid plants collected from six Norwegian lakes. The composition of the revealed diverse fungal communities was shaped mainly by host identity, while abiotic factors had negligible effects. The communities associated with roots of Subularia aquatica and of Isoëtes echinospora and I. lacustris were dominated by Ascomycota, Chytridiomycota, and Basidiomycota while Glomeromycota were infrequent and the proportion of unidentified fungal taxa was relatively high. In contrast, Lobelia dortmanna and...

Data for publication Noreika et al. "Forest biomass, soil and biodiversity relationships originate from biogeographic affinity and direct ecological effects"

Meelis Pärtel
Ecological data from 100 old-growth forest sites in southern Estonia. Recordings of woody and herbaceous vascular plants, terricolous and epiphytic bryophytes and lichens, and fungal taxa in soil. Soil chemistry measured: pH, NPK = mean of standardized concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (mean=0, sd=1), diversity of various taxonomic groups. Biogeography 1 = boreal, 2 = nemoral forests. Distances matrix of sites (km).
