Experiments on the Isolated Heart of the Rabbit in the Langendorff-Apparatus

Following an introduction to the experimental set-up (partial animation), the still beating heart is isolated from the thorax and perfused with solutions of adrenaline, acetylcholine and verapamil. The changes in contractile force and pulse frequency are displayed graphically and elucidated. In conclusion, cooling of the carotid sinus (the primary pacemaker) and a demonstration of the typical consequences.

The particle size distributions are more accurately produced by the moment-based combined power law and log-normal distribution model (PL+LN) than by the model using the log-normal distribution (LN) only, in the theoretical test simulations representing simultaneous new particle formation and growth processes occurring in the atmosphere. The distributions produced by the highly accurate fixed-sectional model (FS1000) are considered the reference distributions.
