Black and white lantern slide showing an older village woman grinding corn with female adolescents and young girls. The corn is ground using a large pestle and mortar. A goose can be seen in the background. The older woman and three of the girls wear wrap dresses, whilst an older adolescent girl wears a dress with short sleeves. This slide comes from a set on the activities of the King’s African Rifles battalions in Nyasaland....

This French monument was a visual sign of the takeover of Madagascar. After 1960 this monument was replaced by another one. The men whom are standing beside the monument in the park are wearing lamba. The Faravohotra ridge is in the background.
