The important Critical Success Factors for the adoption of Smart Contracts, in buying a house within the housing sector in The Netherlands

Allaedine el Moussaoui, Max Koene, Merve Demir & Wouter Eversdijk
Motivated by the recent interest around blockchains, this research examines whether this technology makes a good fit within the Internet of Things (IoT) sector and Industry 4.0. Blockchain is a decentralized distributed peer-to-peer network where users can interact with each other in a verifiable manner. There are several applications of blockchain. One of the applications of blockchain are smart contracts. Smart contracts is a computer protocol that acts as a self-executing contract with the terms...

An Ensemble of Atmospheric Forcing Files from a CAM reanalysis

Kevin Reader, Jeffrey L. Anderson, Nancy Collins & Timothy J. Hoar
This dataset contains files that are an ensemble of 'coupler history' files from an 80-member reanalysis performed with the Data Assimilation Research Testbed (DART) using the Community Atmosphere Model Version 4 with the finite volume core (CAM4 FV) at 1.9 degree by 2.5 degree resolution. The observations assimilated include all those used in the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis (temperature and wind components from radiosondes, aircraft, and satellite drift winds) plus radio occultation observations from the COSMIC satellites...

Measuring Value Creation of BI in the Logistics Industry

D Roozen, O Oteng, A Adouti & S Brinkhuis
Data collection and analysis have been the core of Business Intelligence (BI) for many years. The process of using data will only grow with the rise of Industry 4.0, because partial factors such as big data, make it possible to gain more data at a faster rate. This makes it possible to gain a competitive edge over other companies. Currently, there is a need for a new framework which measures value creation of BI decision...

Harmetronome: a web application for driven harmonic oscillator teaching

João Teles Carvalho-Neto & Matheus Navi dos Santos Silva
Run the latest version of this web application at harmetronome.glitch.me. The purpose is to help the teaching of driven harmonic oscillations and resonance. A full description of its potential uses is discussed in this article. The name "harmetronome" makes reference to the metronome that helps musicians to keep the pace at a chosen beat rate.

The Validity of Big Data: The impact on the grocery industry

Boy Pieters, Karel Kraat, Thoby Visser & Tom Isbouts
Technology has enabled many applications for the grocery industry. One of them is the personal discount-card. A personal discount-card is an example of data generation and appliance. Most grocery organizations that utilize this data are larger franchises, that provide the population with provisions on a daily basis. To illustrate, one of the biggest retailers in the world serve 50 million customers a week. When data is collected on a population of this size, the amount...

Эволюция гендерных взаимоотношений в традиционной культуре XVIII-XIX веков (по материалам Европейского Севера России)

Pulkin Maxim Viktorovich

The impact of cognitive computing on the diagnostic process in the healthcare industry

Farhaneh Amiri, Jean Maurras & Shaqiel Soebdhan
Automation threatens 25% of the jobs in the US and even more globally. Especially jobs that contain a lot of simple and repetitive tasks that no longer require intensive human labor. But can be done by computers. Intensive human labor is no longer required in the modern day knowledge economy (Annie Nove, 2019). Automation does not only have an increasingly bigger impact in low-skilled jobs, but it is also making its introduction in traditionally high-skilled...

Deep sequencing of pre-translational mRNPs reveals hidden flux through evolutionarily conserved AS-NMD pathways

Carrie Kovalak
Deep sequencing of mRNAs (RNA-Seq) is now the preferred method for transcriptome-wide quantification of gene expression. Yet many mRNA isoforms, such as those eliminated by nonsense-mediated decay (NMD), are inherently unstable. Thus a significant drawback of steady-state RNA-Seq is that it provides marginal information on the flux through alternative splicing pathways. Measurement of such flux necessitates capture of newly made species prior to mRNA decay. One means to capture nascent mRNAs is affinity purifying either...
