Nader Ale Ebrahim نادر آل ابراهیم, Mohamed Amin Embi, Marjan Mohammadjafari, Nader Ale Ebrahim نادر آل ابراهیم, Azam Zavvari, Masoomeh Shahbazi Moghadam & Masoud Shakiba
This paper discusses plagiarism origins, and the ethical solutions to prevent it. It also reviews some unethical approaches, which may be used to decrease the plagiarism rate in academic writings. We propose eight ethical techniques to avoid unconscious and accidental plagiarism in manuscripts without using online systems such as Turnitin and/or iThenticate for cross checking and plagiarism detection. The efficiency of the proposed techniques is evaluated on five different texts using students individually. After application...

ResearchGate & Academia: Networks for Researchers to Improve Research Impact

Nader Ale Ebrahim
Researchers needs to remove many traditional obstacles to reach the general public. Academic social networking allows you to connect with other researchers in your field, share your publications, and get feedback on your non-peer-reviewed work. It gives you another place to establish your name and research and perhaps even collaborate with others. The academic social networking, making your work more widely discoverable and easily available. The two best known academic social networking are ResearchGate and...

Research Tools for Research Cycle: From SEARCH to DISSEMINATION

Nader Ale Ebrahim
With the increasing usage of information and communications technology (ICT), researchers are able to use computer software/tools to find, organize, manipulate, analyze, and share relevant information. However, there are hundreds of such tools to select from, for various research-related uses. I have collected over 700 “Research Tools” that can help researchers do their work efficiently. “Research Tools” consists of a hierarchical set of nodes. It has four main nodes: (1) Searching the literature, (2) Writing...

Copyright Checking and Pre-print / Post-print Preparations

Nader Ale Ebrahim
With overwhelming thousands of online journals daily, many scholarly articles simply never reach their intended audience and consequently fail to generate the impact they deserve. Traditionally, scholarly publishers ensured the visibility of an authors’ work by circulating print journals to targeted readers. But fewer people are reading print journals anymore and as content continues to migrate from print to online — how can researchers optimize electronic distribution of content? This presentation, lead you to prepare...

An Introduction and Applications of DOI

Nader Ale Ebrahim
The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is used for identifying intellectual property in the digital environment. The DOI is like a digital fingerprint: Each article receives a unique one at birth, and it can be used to identify the article throughout its lifespan, no matter where it goes. A DOI should be interpreted as 'digital identifier of an object' rather than 'identifier of a digital object'. A DOI can be assigned to any Object. In this...

Share Scientific Data to Improve Research Visibility and Impact

Nader Ale Ebrahim
Previous studies have found that papers with publicly available datasets receive a higher number of citations than similar studies without available data. In addition, new research has found that by putting your research data online, you’ll become up to 30% more highly cited than if you kept your data hidden. In this workshop I will elaborate the advantages of sharing research data and introduce some relevant “Research Tools” for increasing datasets visibility.

Twitter: A powerful tool to Improve Research Visibility and Impact

Nader Ale Ebrahim
There are statistically significant associations between higher citations for articles and the use of various social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, blogs and forums. Twitter is a microblogging tool and social media site created in 2006 that gives you a chance to share quick thoughts using not more than 140 characters in a post. It’s a great way to share your current research, publications and links to achieve maximum publicity. Twitter assist you to...

Create an Audio/Video Slides for your Research

Nader Ale Ebrahim
The number of research publications are increasing dramatically, but it’s impossible for researchers to read and process those information in time. So, we need a new communication tool to disseminate our research findings rather than the conventional publishing method. An effective tool for expanding your online presence is to create Audio/Video slides from your own published papers. It is the easiest way to communicate with a wider audience in your subject area and provide another...

Promote your Research to General Audience through Online Magazine

Nader Ale Ebrahim
The long run research findings will be disseminated through publications. However, researchers may have created some local content which should be circulated immediately. Online magazines can be one solution through content curation to immediately circulate the research findings. Content curation is not just sharing all kinds of content you stumble upon or source. It’s most of all about doing it in a smart and audience-centric way, by focusing on specific topics you want to curate...

Literature Review from Search to Publication, Part 1: Systematic Review

Nader Ale Ebrahim
“Research Tools” can be defined as vehicles that broadly facilitate research and related activities. “Research Tools” enable researchers to collect, organize, analyze, visualize and publicized research  outputs. Dr. Nader has collected over 700 tools that enable students to follow the correct path in research and to ultimately produce high-quality research outputs with more accuracy and efficiency. It is assembled as an interactive Web-based mind map, titled “Research Tools”, which is updated periodically.  “Research Tools” consists...

Enrich Research Visibility and Impact by Citation Tracking

Nader Ale Ebrahim
Citation tracking is used to discover how many times a particular article has been cited by other articles. Citation counts are not perfect. They are influenced by a number of factors. Review articles are sometimes more often cited than their quality would warrant. Poor quality papers can be cited while being criticized or refuted. In this workshop, I will explain about the advantages of "Citation Tracking" and introduced some “Research Tools” for improving the research visibility,...
