4,12-Bis(2,2-dibromovinyl)[2.2]paracyclophane

Carsten Strohmann, Michael Knorr, Sébastien Clément, Laurent Guyard & Christian Däschlein
In the title compound, C20H16Br4, both vinylic substituents were introduced by a Corey-Fuchs reaction using 4,12-diformyl[2.2]paracyclophane as starting material. The title compound may be used as a valuable precursor for the synthesis of diethynyl[2.2]paracyclophane. The title molecule is centrosymmetric with a crystallographic center of inversion between the centers of the two phenyl rings. A strong tilting is observed with an interplanar angle between the best aromatic plane and the vinyl plane of 49.4 (5)°. No...

Abderrahim Khatyr, Marek M. Kubicki, Michael Knorr, Yoann Rousselin, Marwa Chaabene & Mohedinne Askri
The novel 1D coordination polymer (CP) [{Cu(μ2-Br)2Cu}(μ-L2)2] CP2 has been obtained by reaction of the tetrakisthioether p-MeSC6H4SCH2SC6H4SMe-p (L2) with CuBr in a 1:2 metal-to ligand ratio. In contrast to the previously described CP [{Cu(μ2-Br)2Cu}(μ-L1)2] CP1 obtained by reaction of the tetrakisthioether p-MeOC6H4SCH2SC6H4OMe-p (L1) with CuBr, the two independent extended 1D ribbons contain bent Cu(μ2-Br)2Cu units of the butterfly-type with short Cu…Cu separations of 2.679(1) and 2.613(1) Å. In contrast to the common planar rhomboid Cu(μ2-Br)2Cu...

Crystal structure of di-[mu]-iodido-bis[(dimethyl sulfoxide-[kappa]O)(triphenylphosphane-[kappa]P)copper(I)]

Michael Knorr, Rodolphe Kinghat, Marek M. Kubicki & Yoann Rousselin
The centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Cu2I2(C2H6OS)2(C18H15P)2], represents the first example of a CuI complex ligated by an O-bound dimethyl sulfoxide ligand. In the crystal, the two tetrahedrally coordinated CuI atoms are bridged by two [mu]2-iodido ligands in an almost symmetrical rhomboid geometry. The loose Cu...Cu contact of 2.9874 (8) Å is longer than the sum of the van der Waals radii of two Cu atoms (2.8 Å), excluding a significant cupriophilic interaction in the actual...

Wikipedia Ranking of World Universities 2017

José Lages, Dima Shepelyansky & Célestin Coquidé
We present Wikipedia Ranking of World Universities (WRWU) based on analysis of networks of 24 Wikipedia editions collected in May 2017. With PageRank and CheiRank algorithms we determine ranking of universities averaged over cultural views of these editions. The comparison with the Shanghai ranking gives overlap of 60% for top 100 universities showing that WRWU gives more significance to their historical development. We show that the new reduced Google matrix algorithm allows to determine interactions...

Water sanctuaries in Eastern Gaul : origin, organization and evolution from first century B.C to fourth century A.D

Damien Vurpillot

Crystal structure of tricarbonyl([mu]-diphenylphosphido-[kappa]2P:P)(methyldiphenylsilyl-[kappa]Si)bis(triphenylphosphane-[kappa]P)iron(II)platinum(0)(Fe-Pt)

Michael Knorr, Isabelle Jourdain, Marek M. Kubicki, Ahmed Said Mohamed & Yoann Rousselin
The title compound, [FePt(C12H10P)(C13H13Si)(C18H15P)2(CO)3]·0.5CH2Cl2, represents an example of a phosphido-bridged heterobimetallic silyl complex; these are interesting precursors for the coordination and activation of small unsaturated organic molecules. The [mu]2-PPh2 ligand spans the iron and platinum atoms, which are connected via a metal-metal bond of 2.7738 (4) Å. In contrast to most other complexes of the [(OC)3Fe(SiR3)([mu]-PR2)PtL2] family, where the iron-bound SiR3 group is trans-arranged with respect to the [mu]2-PPh2 ligand, the SiPh2Me ligand is roughly...

Michael Knorr, Hamid Boudiba, Rodolphe Kinghat, Abderrahim Khatyr & Marek M. Kubicki
In the title compound, C29H25NS2, both the Cl atoms of the azadiene precursor 4,4-dichloro-1,1-diphenyl-2-azabuta-1,3-diene are replaced by two vicinal S-p-tolyl substituents attached to the terminal C atom of a [pi]-conjugated 2-azabutadiene array. The azadiene chain is planar to within 0.01 Å. One of the phenyl rings seems to be slightly [pi]-conjugated with the azadiene core [dihedral angle 5.1 (2)°].
